My Neighbour’s Keeper is expanding community support programs for seniors by providing accessible counselling services to improve access to mental health care. We also meet other needs when we act as companions and social connections. We visit older adult’s homes, help with simple maintenance and light home care tasks, run errands, or drive them to important appointments. Apart from providing no-cost respite care, we conduct weekly or biweekly visits to homes, long-term care or nursing homes, hospices, and other home options to provide required support. Please check out our service page to learn more.

My Neighbour’s Keeper provides support group opportunities, caregiver education, and accessible mental health care to family caregivers. We also provide

  • Respite care

We follow the caregiver’s lead, supporting them in caring for their loved ones. When they can’t leave the care recipient, we step in with practical help—bringing meals, running errands, entertaining siblings, mowing the lawn, or doing laundry. Our goal is to provide meaningful relief for family caregivers whenever possible.

  • Acknowledgement and empathy.

We understand that caregivers experience both highs and lows, with their unique rhythm of emotions. We recognize their challenges and strive to provide a welcoming space where they express and process their feelings.

  • Friendly check-ins

We enjoy checking in with caregivers through texts, calls, or in-person visits to offer connection, encouragement, and appreciation—sometimes with coffee in hand!”

  • Listening ears

We are here for caregivers who are not soliciting advice but want someone to listen with genuine interest.

Reestablishing family and community ties is essential for successful reintegration. My Neighbour’s Keeper provides community and makes starting afresh possible. In addition to referrals to community resources, we offer free counselling services and strong mental health support pre- and post-prison release, critical to supporting successful reintegration and reducing recidivism.

In any given year, 1 in 5 Canadians experiences a mental illness, and accessing treatment is met with huge wait times and out-of-pocket costs many struggles with.

My Neighbour’s Keeper strives to provide services that nib mental illnesses in the bud so they do not advance to chronic levels, and we also work (providing emotional support) to prevent occurrences of mental illness altogether. We provide free and uncapped counselling sessions for low-income Canadians and an accessible sliding scale rate for other clients.

My Neighbour’s Keeper meets people with disabilities where they are to lend a helping hand with transportation to important appointments where flexibility is required. We also provide accessible counselling, companionship, and respite care services. Please learn more on our services page.

While we promote the Christian faith, our services and programs are open to all individuals regardless of religious affiliation.

My Neighbour’s Keeper is not affiliated with any political party. Our focus is solely on our mission, and we work with leaders from all political parties to advance policies that support the well-being of our communities. We
appreciate the support of individuals and organizations from all political backgrounds who share our commitment to improving the well-being and resilience of society.
