Our service basics
Regardless of who you are, what you believe, where you come from, your age, gender, ethnicity, religion, or whatever, we are here to serve you. Our services are categorized into four buckets according to the kind of needs required:
We provide no-cost services that support clients in meeting their practical, emotional, and spiritual needs. Our mental health support and counselling services are provided for free or at a sliding scale that allows everyone to pay what they can afford. This way, nobody needs to do without help.
To Our Clients:
- We’re powered entirely by volunteers — people who give their time, skills, and hearts to serve others.
- All service requests must be made well in advance (at the minimum, 7 business days post-client intake).
- Clients’ intake process must be completed prior to service delivery.
Please Note:
- Our services are provided in English at this time.
- We DO NOT help clients with sorting mail, organizing bills, writing or signing cheques or acting as Power of Attorney.
- We DO NOT provide emergency or crisis services. Please call 911 or the Distress Center for crisis or emergency at 403-266-HELP (403-266-4357).
- Where we are unable to provide the requested service, we will make appropriate referrals to other agencies or services accordingly and support the client to access the services.
More on Our Services:
- Transport Assistance: Clients can be given door-to-door transportation for a maximum of 2 rides a week.
- Visit Connect: We can provide a maximum of two hours of visits per week for social contact and emotional support. The visit may include trips into the community (for walks, social events, etc.).
- Our phone-connect service, an opportunity for conversation and socialization is offered at a maximum of twice per week.
- Provision of minor household maintenance, e.g., lawn mowing, yard cleanup, minor household repairs, etc are provided as volunteers become available. Contact us to discuss your needs, info@myneighbouskeeper.ca
- Our Counselling sessions are a minimum of 45 minutes long per session.
- Sliding scale fee payment for counselling sessions applies where income levels allows.
- Our practical, emotional, and spiritual support services are non-medical in nature and are provided on a first-come, first-served basis on the availability of volunteers.
- Reference – To provide the right support, we may request contact information for a medical professional, social worker, or community worker who can confirm your needs.
- Trial Period – Your volunteer match will begin with a 3-session trial. This helps both you and the volunteer feel comfortable and supported.
- Ongoing Support – After the trial, we’ll check in with you and your volunteer to see how things are going and adjust if needed.

- Volunteers who grocery shop from a client’s list (on the client’s request) must be reimbursed by the client at the time of delivery. An arrangement for reimbursement must be agreed upon with the client prior to carrying out the service. - Our caregiver respite volunteers visit, talk, read, do crafts, etc. We are unable to provide medical or “hands-on” care. Caregiver respite care can be given up to two hours per week.
